Holmes Becomes President of FirstBank

Chris Holmes

Chris Holmes, a banker who has worked in Memphis in the past, is the new president of FirstBank in Lexington, Tenn. He's the third president the bank has had since 1984.

FirstBank has $2.1 billion in total assets and is among the top 5 percent of all U.S. banks, according to company information. It has 612 employees in 54 locations throughout the Southeast.

Before joining the bank's board of directors in 2010, Holmes was director of corporate financial services and chief retail banking officer for South Financial Group of Greenville, South Carolina. Originally from Lexington, he began his career in 1986 at Ernst & Young in Memphis.

Meanwhile, Doug Cruickshanks, FirstBank's president since 2002, is becoming vice chairman of the bank's board. He previously worked for 33 years at Bank of America.
